Born in Surrey, England, Marielle was raised between the English countryside and the Middle East, before moving to the west coast of Australia aged 16. After completing high school in Perth, Australia, she solo backpacked much of Asia, Africa and Europe. After a year of exploring with her camera and notebook, she made her way slowly home to the UK where she completed a filmmaking degree (specialising in Documentary Filmmaking) at the University of Sussex.
Alongside her studies she directed and produced a documentary film, predominantly shot in 'The Jungle' in Calais; one of Europe's largest refugee camps (where she had spent extensive time as a volunteer). She remains a passionate and active voice in the refugee rights volunteer community, both in the UK and abroad. Whilst completing her degree, she also worked as a live music photographer and was fortunate enough to tour Europe and Australia with several high profile bands and artists (see photography work here).
Prior to leaving university, Marielle rediscovered her childhood love for drama and began attending regular acting classes and workshops. Upon graduating, she moved to London, signed with her first agent, began auditioning and worked steadily for the following 18 months. In the summer of 2017, she decided to continue her training at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City.
She is now based between London and New York City, working in theatre, film and television. She is represented by Ellipsis Entertainment Group (Film, TV and Theatre) and The Narrow Road Company (Commercial & Print).
Marielle is also currently writing and producing her first feature length film.
